P90X Leg Workout Review – Day 12

P90X Leg WorkoutI’m 12 days into the P90X program now, and today I did the P90X leg workout for the second time. The topic for today, is pain.

Previously, I really thought that the P90X plyometrics workout was the worst of the bunch. As of today, a new leader has emerged — and it is called P90X Legs and Back.

I’m pretty certain now that the P90X leg workout edges out plyo for the award of “most punishing P90X DVD“. Maybe it was because I was a little more familiar with the exercises this week and pushed even harder, but today was abso-freakin’-lutely brutal.

I ended up feeling nauseous again with a little less than 25 minutes to go in the workout, but I held it together. Legs are definitely my weak area at this point, and I was physically shaking by the end of most exercises. Oh, and one-legged wall squats are evil.

The back portion of the workout went better than the leg routines, and I pushed myself to the point of failure during every pull-up set.

Last but not least, Ab Ripper X went pretty well today. I started doing the Ab Ripper X DVD before the normal workout, but today I switched things up and did it last again. I definitely know now that I prefer to do abs first, and I’m going to stick to that for the remaining 90 days.

I stayed on course with the nutrition plan again today and have so far resisted the temptation to cave in and cheat. Diet is probably 80% of this program, and it escapes me why some people would put themselves through these grueling workouts only to turn around and stuff a Twinkie down the hatch. Straight-up looney if you ask me.

I’ll be doing Kenpo X again tomorrow, which should provide some much-needed relief as it’s not as intense as some other workouts (cough, LEGS AND BACK, cough). As always, stay tuned to read more about a little thing I like to call pain.

    I hadn’t thought of doing the Ab Ripper X before, sounds like a great idea, cuz after the first two workouts, I can barely do half of the abs exercises. Thanks for the pointer!

    @Jason: Yeah, bumping the Ab Ripper X routine to the beginning really seems to work well for me. Let me know how it goes if you decide to give it a shot!
