P90X Review – Chest and Back Day 1

Today was day 1 of my P90X review, and the DVD ‘o the day was “Chest and Back”. I’ve heard some real stories regarding the intensity of the P90X workouts, so I really wasn’t sure what to expect.

Well as they say, let the fun begin…

Despite the fact that I typically like to work out in the afternoon, I decided to try morning workouts for a while. This will ensure that my workouts get done and that there won’t be any problems with unexpected (time-consuming) issues that might creep up throughout the day. P90X is my first priority right now, and I want to make sure that my daily workouts get done — no matter what.

So, on to the workout…

Believe it or not, I actually enjoyed the P90X Chest and Back DVD quite a bit. I handled part one pretty well and made it through all of the exercises, but started to feel nauseous right before part two began. I ended up getting sick, then took a 5 minute rest before continuing. After that initial sickness was over, I felt much better and was able to complete the rest of the workout.

After the Chest and Back workout, I popped in the Ab RipperX DVD. While I found it to be extremely difficult, I was able to do a good bit of the routine on my first go. That DVD is definitely the best abs workout I’ve ever done in my life. No question.

As far as the P90X Nutrition Plan went, I followed it to the letter today and ate 5 healthy meals, all spaced out about 2-3 hours apart. I’m taking the portion approach to the diet plan, as I don’t have a lot of extra time to spend in the kitchen preparing meals. I must say, it’s a very quick and easy way to throw together ultra-healthy meals.

Well, that’s it for today’s update. I hope you enjoyed reading about my adventurous day one with the living legend that is Tony Horton. If you have comments or questions, I would love to hear ‘em!

Oh yeah, one last thing — in case you missed them, be sure to check out my P90X before pictures and the results of my P90X Fit Test.

Until tomorrow…
