P90X Shoulders, Arms, and Ab Ripper X Workout – Day 17

P90X Ab Ripper XToday was day 17 of my 90 day workout with the P90X program, and despite still being fatigued, I did my best on Shoulders & Arms and actually managed to increase my weight on many of the moves. Of the upper body routines, this is probably my favorite, and one I seem to be progressing the most on. And following Shoulders & Arms, I had a typically good Ab Ripper X workout.

During the P90X Shoulders & Arms workout, my strongest moves were the tricep moves, like the Two-Arm Tricep Kickbacks, Flip-Grip Twist Tricep Kickbacks, and Lying-Down Tricep Extensions, while I really have to grunt through the shoulder and bicep moves. I’m hoping that, over time, I’ll build up my shoulders and biceps to keep up with my triceps, and then develop them all evenly. Here are my numbers (second set in parentheses):

  1. Alternating Shoulder Presses: 10 @ 15 lbs. (10 @ 12 lbs.)
  2. In & Out Bicep Curls: 16 @ 15 lbs. (16 @ 12 lbs.)
  3. Two-Arm Tricep Kickbacks: 10 @ 15 lbs. (10 @ 12 lbs.)
  4. Deep Swimmer’s Presses: 10 @ 12 lbs. (10 @ 12 lbs.)
  5. Full Supination Concentration Curls: 10 @ 12 lbs. (10 @ 12 lbs.)
  6. Chair Dips: 20 (20)
  7. Upright Rows: 10 @ 12 lbs. (10 @ 9 lbs.)
  8. Static Arm Curls: 16 @ 9 lbs. (16 @ 9 lbs.)
  9. Flip-Grip Twist Tricep Kickbacks: 10 @ 9 lbs. (10 @ 9 lbs.)
  10. Two-Angle Shoulder Flys: 16 @ 9 lbs. (16 @ 9 lbs.)
  11. Crouching Cohen Curls: 10 @ 9 lbs. (10 @ 9 lbs.)
  12. Lying-Down Tricep Extensions: 10 @ 9 lbs. (10 @ 9 lbs.)

In Ab Ripper X, I continued to tear it up, and felt like I could’ve done the final Mason Twist twice as long as the 50 count in the video. My abs have definitely been getting stronger, as I’m able to make more slow, deliberate movements than in the past, and can feel my abs through the movement range. Fifer Scissors used to be tough, but now they’re much more bearable.

Tomorrow is Yoga X, which always kicks my butt around the Warrior Three section. I can’t wait.
