P90X Transformation Journal – Yoga X

P90X Yoga XToday was day 4 of my P90X transformation, and the workout was Yoga X. I have done a little yoga in the past so I was really looking forward to seeing how this workout stacked up — let me just say, it did not disappoint.

Out of all of the P90X DVD’s I’ve watched so far, Yoga X is right up there with the P90X Shoulders and Arms workout as my favorite. The yoga routine was a little on the long side (1:30), but I felt absolutely amazing when I finished.

One thing that I really noticed was the improvement in my flexibility. After just 90 minutes of Yoga X, I was able to stretch deeper and hold it longer than I was when I first started the video. I flubbed around a bit with some of the balance poses, but I’m sure those will improve with time as my muscles get accustomed to supporting my weight in different ways.

Even though I just completed my workout an hour ago, I’m already feeling sore. Hopefully things won’t be too bad tomorrow as I have Legs and Back (not looking forward to that one by the way).

I’m continuing to follow the P90X nutrition plan and I’m eating 5 small meals a day, each spaced out about 2-3 hours apart. For breakfast, I’ve been making a green smoothie with spinach, an apple, strawberries, a few blueberries and blackberries, a clove of garlic, 6 egg whites, a tomato, a tablespoon of flax seed oil, and a shot of chlorella and spirulina. All of the fruits and veggies I buy are organic and I highly recommend switching over to an organic produce diet. The chemicals that they use to grow normal fruits and vegetables is not good for us to consume (understatement of the year), do some research and I guarantee you’ll be shocked at what you learn. I also have a whole wheat bagel for breakfast as well.

My second meal is usually a Shakeology shake (chocolate is beyond amazing, highly recommended).

The other meals have basically been a mix of canned tuna fish, grilled chicken breast, egg whites, carrots, fat free yogurt, and fat free cottage cheese.

I’m following the portion approach which basically allows you to pick and choose approved foods from the different food groups, and assemble them into quick little meals. It saves a ton of time and is really easy to follow once you get your meal schedule laid out. If you have any questions, just leave a comment and I’ll clarify.

Well, that’s it for today’s update. Stay tuned…
